We’ve come a long way since our business was a group of us with laptops gathered around an Aberdeen kitchen table.
Back in mid 2016, our co-founders, David Sheret and Mike Watson, were frustrated by what they saw as something fundamentally missing from subsea industry analysis. They felt macro analysis lacked the granular level of detail which operators, service providers and supply-chain companies required to take them over that ‘last mile’ to project completion.
A need for global granular insight.
Between them David and Mike had around 30 years of industry experience of leading subsea contracting and business development in areas across major subsea global hubs.
These include UK Continental Shelf, Western Europe, Africa, Americas, Asia, Australasia & Oceania, Central, South America & Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Russia & Caspian, Middle East. They believed a company offering bottom-up, granular market intelligence could help give others working in the subsea arena the insight they needed to target the most profitable opportunities.
Leveraging 30 years of global subsea experience.
Since day one at Archer Knight, we’ve been driven by our aim to be the subsea industry’s ‘first-thought’ company for granular market intelligence and associated solutions. At the heart of the business are our core values: Be Honest, Be Fair, Be Good and Be There.
Within a few months, we’d won our first international contract and with the aid of a global network of 50,000 key contacts, we’ve now expanded to complete projects across the world’s major subsea hubs.

We’ve built up a fantastic team which combines industry experience with a diverse range of talents and has helped us win business from companies from right across the subsea spectrum.
In 2019, a successful cash-for-equity raise from 21 high-net-worth external investors – with the support of Gneiss Energy, Infinity Partnership and Pinsent Masons – further cemented our position as a leading provider of subsea market intelligence and consultancy support.
Creating a subsea
In 2020, we launched Flowline, our new digital software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform which will revolutionise how we deliver subsea market intelligence to our clients by driving customisable data directly to them and reducing the time they need to stay on top of their chosen subsea sector.
Flowline gives subscribers their very own ‘digital employee’ working tirelessly to give them the high-quality data they need, when they need it most, in a user-friendly format and without the restrictions of complex licensing arrangements. We believe Flowline is the next step in helping our clients bridge that gap from market intelligence to gaining market share.
